Coach Insurance

This class of insurance is available from only a limited number of insurers. It is viewed more as a catastrophe type of cover and is, therefore, priced accordingly. The fear is that a coach full of passengers, involved in a serious accident, will produce a catastrophic claim – possibly of many millions.

Typically, a summary of cover would be:

• Comprehensive cover – this covers damage to the vehicle and your liability to any third party, including the passengers on the coach.


• Subject to a £250 accidental damage fire and theft excess


• Windscreen cover – this can be added to coach insurance policies at an additional premium.


• Named and approved drivers – or if the fleet is larger than, say, five vehicles, driving can be extended to any driver over the age of 25 and under 65 and who has held their PSV licence for more than two years.


• Legal Expenses insurance. This covers any uninsured loss in the event of a not at fault claim. If a driver is injured in an accident, then this policy will seek compensation from the third party for the damages or injuries incurred.


• Green Card cover – this is needed to ensure that the full policy benefits are extended to cover you and your vehicles whilst travelling in the European Union and other Green Card countries.
